Jefferson Community College Hockey notches a big win over first place Mercyhurst University 6-1!
On Saturday afternoon, the Cannoneers Hockey team faced off against Mercyhurst University in a battle of the top teams in UNYCHL Division III. The game was played at the Mercyhurst Arena. JCC opened the scoring with goals by Sam Stone, Kyle Gionet, Cameron Winebar and Zachary Blevins and led 4-0 at the end of the first period.
In the second period Zach Blevins scored on a great pass from Ryan Blevins and Tyler Wilson scored his first goal as a Cannoneer with an assist from Jack Mills. Mercyhurst was able to score a goal and the period ended with JCC up 6-1
In the third period JCC shut down Mercyhurst and played hard to preserve the win, with a final score of 6-1
Notable players were Andrew Stone who made 16 saves and earned the win. Ryan Blevins, Zachary Blevins and Cameron Winebar all had multiple point games and Elijah Johnston played great two-way hockey. The line of Jack Mills, Owen Newton and David Stern completed the weekend in defensive style, not giving up any goals while on the ice this weekend. Next up is University of Albany on Sunday at January 28th at 12:00 3:00 at Haldane Arena in Pulaski.
