Jefferson Community College Hockey gains a big league win over the Albany Great Danes 7-4!

Game 17: Sunday January 28th Albany University vs. JCC at Haldane Arena.

On Sunday afternoon, the Cannoneer Hockey team took the ice in a UNYCHL Division 3 league game against the University of Albany. The game was played at Haldane Arena in Pulaski, New York. Albany opened the scoring 8 minutes into the first period to give the Danes a 1-0 lead. 7 minutes later Carson Barrett sent a nice pass to the slot and Zach Blevins finished it to tie the game at 1 going into intermission.

In the first ten minutes of the second period Albany surged, scoring 3 straight goals to go up 4-1 at the 13 minute mark. JCC answered on a nice shot by Ryan Blevins assisted by Zach Blevins to make the score 4-2. Drew Stone made some key saves to cap off the second period at 4-2 and kept the Cannoneers in the game.

In the third period, JCC took over the game. The first goal came in 40 seconds into the period when Ryan Blevins scored again from Zachary Blevins as they were shorthanded. 3 minutes later Zach Blevins tipped a puck in from a point shot from Casey Wilson and a secondary assist from Ryan Blevins to tie the game at 4. Kyle Gionet then scored on the power play unassisted to take the lead and minutes later Ryan Blevins completed the hattrick on assists from Kyle Gionet and Tyler Wilson. Finally Carson Barrett struck to make the game 7-4 with an assist again to Tyler Wilson and Sam Stone.

Notable players include Drew Stone who had 40 saves on 44 shots. Ryan Blevins had a hattrick and 4 points and Zachary Blevins also notched a 4 point night. Kyle Gionet, Tyler Wilson, and Carson Barrett had multi-point performances. The player of the Game was Ryan Blevins who went home with the game puck. The Cannoneers now jump into third into the UNYCHL standings and now hold a league playoff spot with 3 league games left to go. They face off again next weekend in another big league game against Lemoyne Sunday Feb 4th in Cicero New York.
