Jefferson Hockey Defeats Skidmore College 13-2 & Honors 2 Sophomores

On Friday night, the Cannoneers hockey team held a rematch against Skidmore College in their last home game of the season. In the first period, it was tightly contested as both teams were playing strong defense and good goaltending from JCC's Drew Stone and Skidmore emergency goalie Andy Plamondon. JCC eventually broke through and ended the first period up 3-0 after goals from Zachary Blevins, Cameron Winebar, and Jack Mills on the powerplay.

In the second period, the Cannoneers struck 4 times to take the lead to 7-0. First it was Carson Barrett from Traigh Kittle, and Brennan Derouchie. Next it was Owen Newton with a beautiful redirection in front from Ryan and Zach Blevins. Tyler Wilson scored just 40 seconds later on a dish from Zach Blevins and Owen Newton. The final goal of the period was scored by Lucian Mayberry assisted by Nathanial Stone.

In the third period, the Cannoneers opened the scoring as Casey Wilson scored followed by two quick goals by Zach Blevins and then a goal from Cameron Winebar. Skidmore finally broke through in the third scoring two. Zach Blevins then scored again and finally Bailey Dalin scored a phenomenal goal through his legs with 10 seconds to play. Many are calling it the "goal of the year".

Special shoutout goes to Benjamin Wiley and Brennan Derouchie who we acknowledged before the game in a sophomore night ceremony along with honoring the original 14 members of the team. The players of the game were Bailey Dalin with his beautiful goal and Skidmore fill in goalie Andy Plamondon who stopped 84 shots throughout the game. The cannoneers will face off in the first round of the UNYCHL playoffs on Saturday afternoon in Saranac Lake as they look to get revenge on Paul Smith's College.
