Jefferson Hockey Announces Recruit Day
On Saturday, March 30th, the JCC Hockey Team will host a Recruiting Day. This event is open to all current, recruited, and interested players. Players must be graduating in 2025, 2024 or high school graduates interested in attending JCC and playing hockey. We will meet in the lobby area of the McVean Gymnasium at 11:00 AM.
The Itinerary is as follows:
- 11:00 Meet at McVean Gymnasium and walk to Admissions/Enrollment Services
- 11:15 Campus Tour, including Residence Hall and Athletic Facilities.
- 11:45 Meet with Admissions and ASAP program (Advancing Success in Associate Pathways)
- 12:30 Lunch to be provided by JCC in Dining Hall
- 1:00 Discussion with Coaching Staff and current team members
- 1:30 Signing event for recruited players
- 1:45 Travel to Watertown Municipal Arena
- 2:20 Practice Session
- 3:50 Practice ends, and Q& A with the coaching staff

The JCC Hockey Team was founded in 2023. In our initial season, we participated in the Upstate New York College Hockey League and played a combined Division II /III AAU College Club Hockey Schedule. Our team plays and practices at Watertown Municipal Arena and Haldane Memorial Arena. During the season, our practices are held in Watertown, and we practice between 2-4 times per week. We play home games at both Watertown Arena and Haldane Arena.
In our inaugural season, we played 25 Games and held 65 practices. Our team finished with an overall record of 15-10, which was the highest point total among the 17 teams in our division. We were also ranked #15 Nationally in Divison III. We won our first-round playoff game vs Paul Smith's College and were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round by the eventual championship team, Colgate University. JCC also had two players and a coach selected to participate in the AAU National All-Star Showcase in Florida this April.
We have a six-member full-time coaching and recruiting staff led by head coach Michael Ledoux. In 2023-2024, our team consisted of 21 players, and we have recruited approximately 10 players to attend JCC and play hockey this upcoming season. We aim to field an active roster of 18 skaters and 3 goalies to dress for games. We will carry a roster of approximately 25 players in 2024-2025. There are still openings to be filled, and we are looking for the right players to join the team. Our team is governed by a Board of Directors who play on the team. These positions consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The board members represent our team in all JCC meetings and events that we attend.
The JCC hockey team does receive some funding from the school, and we have many generous donors; we also raise additional funds to maintain a high-quality program. In 2023-2024 every player contributed $800 toward the operation of the team, and we expect the contribution to be between $800-$1000 in 2024-2025.
