Jefferson Splits on the Road in Home Opener

The Cannoneers traveled to Onondaga Community College to participate in the Lazer classic and squared off first with with Lackawanna Community College from Pennsylvania.  Jefferson would start the game fast, only to see Lackawanna pull ahead for a 50-36 lead at the half.  The Cannoneers would show life in the second half cutting the lead to 6, only to have Lackawanna pull away for a convincing 94-76 win by the Falcons.  Leading the way for the Cannoneers in the contest were Brandon Dodge with 16 points followed by Jaydon Koiner with 14 points.  Other Cannoneers contributing to the cause were Owen Coall with 12 points, followed by Patrick Allieu with 11 points and Brian rivera with 10 points.

On Sunday, Cannoneers ran into a hot shooting Cougar team from Holyoke, MA and were able to claw their way back for an exciting 97-91 comeback win.  The Cougars would hit 8 three-pointers in the first half for a 52-37 lead over the Cannoneers at halftime.  The second half would start the same way and the Cannoneers would find themselves in a 22 point hole in the second half, only to keep working and finally take the lead with about a minute left in the game.  Brian Rivera dropped 37 points/9 rebounds/6 assists to lead the Cannoneer charge.  Jaydon Koiner would also have an outstanding game as well with 26 points/9 rebounds/5 assists.  Patrick Allieu also chipped in with 15 points/6 rebounds.  Brandon Dodge also contributed 8 points/5 rebounds in the comeback win.  It was a great team defensive effort that would get the Cannoneers their first win of the season.
