This Week's Jefferson Basketball Wrap-Up

On Thursday, the Cannoneers faced a very good Onondaga Community College team and found themselves on the short end of an 82-73 defeat.  It was a game of 2 halves, as the Cannoneers led at the break 31-30 and controlled the pace of the game.  The second half was a different story as the Lazers from OCC controlled the play from the start.  Onondaga opened the second half on a good run and would stretch the lead to 16, only to see the Cannoneers fight their way back into the game and never get any closer than 8 points.  Leading the way for the Cannoneers was Javon Hunter with 17 points and Alex Hall with 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Caleb Green continued his steady play with 12 points, followed by Terrin Roland with 11 and Ismaeel Safo with 10 points.

On Saturday, the Cannoneers hosted the first place Corning Red Barons and gave them all they could handle before losing a close game by the score of 87-77.  The first half was a very close battle as both teams played hard and made numerous changes on offense and defense only to see the score tied at 39 at half.  The second half was much the same only to see the Barons pull away at the end for the final ten point cushion.  Leading the way for the Cannoneers was Alex Hall with a big game of 23 points and 8 rebounds.  Helping out in the cause was Caleb Green with 13 followed by Javon Hunter with 12 and Terrin Roland with 10.

On Sunday, the Cannoneers traveled all the way to Plattsburgh to play Clinton Community College, only to lose a heart breaker by the score of 75-73.  It was another close fought battle and the Cannoneers would have the last shot, only to see it miss its target.  Leading the way was Javon Hunter with 19 followed by Terrin Roland with 16 and Caleb Green with 13.  The Cannoneers will return to action this Saturday at home in a Mid-State Conference battle with Broome.
