#3 Jefferson vs SUNY Adirondack

Cannoneers Gain Victory on Sophomore Day

The Cannoneers would find themselves in a tough battle with Finger Lakes Community College in make-up game on Sunday at home.  This would be Isiah Murphy and Howard Turners last game on the McVean gymnasium floor, and they would not be denied.  The Lakers would give the Cannoneers all they could handle throughout the day, only to see the home team Cannoneers win the game 71-67.

The Cannoneers would be led by Isiah Murphy with 31 points/11 points/6 assists.  Isiah Lemon would also have a very good game with a double-double for the Cannoneers with 10 points/13 rebounds.  Howard Turner would have a solid last home game with 9 points/7 rebounds as well slowing down FLCC's best player in the second half.  Matt Brown would have a solid game with 8 points/ 8rebounds as well as Jerry Smith chipping in with 8 points.

First, I would like to thank these two sophomores, Isiah Murphy and Howard Turner for putting in the effort to make themselves better players, as well as better people.  They have given a lot to JCC and have accomplished a lot in their two years here, both on and off the court.  These two young men are polite and courteous off the court, but when they step on the court, they are ultra-competitive.  As it stands, Isiah Murphy will go down as one of the top players in program history, while Howard Turner will go down as one of the best 3-point shooters in program history.  Both of these young men have aspirations of moving on to four-year institutions, to continue their academic and basketball careers.

#10 Howard Turner

Howard T

Howard has given a lot to the program in his two years and has been a great teammate.  Howard is one of the best 3-point shooters I have coached here and has unlimited potential to play at the next level.   His desire to continue to improve every day shows as you can usually find him in his spare time shooting and working on his game in the gym.  Howard is currently undecided on where he will attend school as of now.

#1 Isiah Murphy

#1 Isiah Murphy

Isiah has been one of the key reasons for the turnaround of fortunes for the Cannoneer basketball program over the last 2 seasons.  Isiah is currently one of the top players in the region and one of the top ten scorers in the country, as well as one of the top ten assists people in the country.  Isiah also ranks in the top 20 for rebounding, as well as top 45 in Field goal percentage, as well as the number 4 ranked steal leader in the country.  As you can see, Isiah is a very well rounded player.  Isiah's skill, knowledge of the game, and competitiveness will be hard to replace on the court next year.  Isiah has many options to continue his academic and athletic playing career and is undecided at this point where he will attend school as of now.

The Coaching staff wants to thank both of these young men for the time and effort they have put into the program and for believing in what we do.  It has been a pleasure to coach both of you and we only wish you the best as you move forward.
